LONGVIEW NEWS-JOURNAL ASKS PASTOR BOB GRAY II
TO WEIGH IN ON GOVERNOR PERRY’S AD.
from www.news-journal.com, December 17, 2011
“The Rev. Bob Gray of Longview Baptist Temple said Perry’s statement on gays in the military was secondary to the primary issue of homosexuality.
“The Bible is very clear concerning how the Lord feels about sodomy,” he said, citing chapter and verse. “Gays serving openly in the military is just a spillover of homosexuality being permissible in our society.”
Gray referred to scripture as well to address the question of whether a Christian is more qualified to be president than non-believers and those of other faiths” .... READ FULL ARTICLE
MARRIAGE PREPARATION AIM OF CHURCH YOUTH GATHERING
from www.news-journal.com Posted: Wednesday, June 23, 2010
By Christina Lane clane@news-journal.com
A 15-foot tall white wedding cake topped with figures of a bride and groom stood on the stage Tuesday night at Longview Baptist Temple.
"The pure life that you have going into marriage will make sure the marriage is very strong," the Rev. Bob Gray II said to hundreds of teenagers. "We need a generation of young people who want to do it right."

"Every year we choose a theme that is relevant to the teenage world," Gray said. "This year we chose to reinforce virginity and chastity."
Gray has been doing youth work for 23 years. He said with the availability of technology and the Internet, it seems to be a battle for teenagers to keep themselves pure until marriage.
"It's tough keeping your purity intact," Gray said. "Parents and spiritual leaders are there to help teenagers with that."
Bethany Taylor, 22, has been attending the conference since she was 13. This year, Taylor, a youth counselor in Fort Smith, Ark., brought about 20 children to the conference.
"This helped me so much when I was their age, and I thought it would help them," Taylor said.
The theme was ideal, she said.
"This is exactly what they needed," Taylor said. "When you are a teenager you struggle a lot with keeping your mind pure. Coming here was one of the things that helped me with that, and I thought it could do the same for them."
The first and foremost step teenagers can take to keep themselves pure is to make a commitment to themselves and to those around them that they intend to remain abstinent, Gray said. Then they should remove impure activities and distractions around them, such as the Internet, he said.
"The Internet is a useful tool when it's not corrupt," Gray said.
Teens should also try to get help from their peers, he said.
"If they can make a bond and a promise between their peers and not be ashamed to say what they want to do, that will help them so much," Gray said. "When mom and dad are away, teenagers can become different people. If they have help from their peers, it will keep them on track.”
