The church scene in America has taken a dramatic turn this past decade in their outlook on Sunday night church and how necessary it is to the well-being of Christians. The Baptist churches are now doing what has always been a widely accepted practice in liberal churches and that is stopping their Sunday night services.
Longview Baptist Temple has been guilty of changing times of our Sunday night services from 7:00 to 6:00 and now we hold our evening services at 5:00. Unfortunately, some prominent church members, who do not come anyway, have taken me to task concerning the time change and that is their right to do so. However, one thing Longview Baptist Temple will not be guilty of is permanently cancelling Sunday night church.
Sunday, the first day of the week, is when the Lord appears to the believers. In fact, Jesus appeared to them twice: morning and evening. If you recall, when Thomas missed Sunday night church he missed Jesus showing up. How many members have been absent on Sunday night when the Lord did a great work and had to hear about the service from other members?
If the truth be known, our faithfulness and commitment to Sunday night church should increase the closer we move toward the return of Christ according to Hebrews 10:25.
Going, Going, Gone – There Goes Sunday Night Church will not happen here at the Longview Baptist Temple. See you Sunday Night!
